All Things New

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” ~ Revelation 21:5

It’s wild to think in Revelation 21, we get a sneak peek at the restoration of all things: new heaven, new earth, no more crying, dying, “for the former things have passed away” (4). None of this has happened for us yet, but God gave this revelation to John so he could share with Christ’s believers what is to come.

We don’t know what will come as we start a new year. Maybe you’re apprehensive or hopeful. Regardless of what this year brings, we know something great will come: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God, Himself, will be with them and be their God” (3). Living with God physically in paradise is so exciting! That is something incredible to look forward to! But we don’t have to sit back and wait for that to happen. As Jesus says, you can “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:2). As we increase in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we are bringing Heaven to Earth! We’re not called to be passive viewers in His work but active participants! Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to partner with us in repairing Creation!

Starting off this new year, remember Jesus’s words, “I make all things new.” You are being made new by choosing each day to live for Christ, and someday all things will be made new when we live with God in Paradise. Let these words encourage you this new year, and always improve the present moment!
