"I am going to rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not." ~ Matthew 11:25
Have you ever felt like the Israelites in this passage? Have you ever complained to God about your situation or wished things were different? Have you ever doubted God's provision or plan for your life? Of course, you have; we all have! The Israelites were God's chosen people, but they still struggled with faith and obedience. They had seen God's mighty deeds in Egypt but quickly forgot his goodness and power. They had been freed from slavery, but they longed for the comforts of their former life. God heard their complaint, and He answered them in a surprising way. The Lord did not rebuke or punish them, but He gave them what they asked for; bread from heaven. He provided for their physical needs, but He also tested their spiritual condition. He gave them instructions on gathering and eating the bread and wanted to see if they would follow them. God wanted to teach them to trust, obey, depend, and honor Him as their Lord. How do you respond to God's provision and testing in your life? Do you thank Him and follow his instructions, or do you grumble and disobey? Do you seek Him daily or forget Him when things are easy? God wants to bless and grow you, but He also wants to refine you by testing you. He wants you to live by faith and not by sight, to walk in His ways and not in your own. Remember this passage the next time you face a difficult situation or a challenging decision. Remember how God provided for the Israelites, how He tested them, and how He will do the same for you. Always improve the present moment
