"if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." ~Matthew 18:19-20
Back in grade school, I never really liked working on group projects. I don't know why I recoiled when the teacher assigned partners. Maybe because I expected not everyone would pull their own weight. I expected working together would be more of a hindrance than an asset. Was I right? Yes, sometimes, but only sometimes. One of the biggest takeaways from the whole of Scripture is that the Lord made us to be Kingdom Collaborators. From the Garden to the Cross to Church, the Creator takes an active role, not as an authoritarian, but as a parent, who, over time, turns into a partner. As humanity grew through "infancy," ultimately, they graduated from disparate packs of factious fiends into the Body of Christ, i.e., the Church, aka the Bride of Christ. In a marital relationship, the two are partners. While the husband is the head, he also listens to his wife. The two work together to form their family. It should strike us that God does not consider us subjects in His royal court; He wants to make us heirs to the Kingdom! The Kingdom exists because of His nature (The Creator of All Things), but we build the Kingdom with Him! Either by laziness or self-doubt, too many of us think like drones in a bee hive, producing with an Earthly, temporal mindset instead of as active collaborators in an eternal Kingdom which has already begun. Do not wait for Christ to return, thinking that's when the Kingdom will come. Repeatedly Jesus warns of this kind of slothful behavior. Christ is already with us building the Kingdom! Will you contribute or let others do the work for you? I promise this is a group project you will want to be a part of! Always improve the present moment.
