Love: The Fourth Sunday of Advent

We have come to the Fourth Sunday before Christmas—the final Sunday of Advent. God has sent his messengers to appear to multiple people across the country and that section of the world. Mary, Zachariah, the Wiseman, the Shepherds, and Joseph all had Angels visit them. Looking back across this advent season, we can see that each Sunday has built upon each other. The thread of love has been woven throughout. God knew that Mary having a loving, understanding husband and Jesus having the same for an earthly father was vitally important. When the Angel explained the situation to Joseph and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife, Joseph's love for God enabled him to accept His words as the truth and faithfully follow God's will. As we can see from Joseph's example, it is up to us to accept God's love as truth. We can anticipate with hope, choose peace, and experience joy, but none of these will truly have their meaning if we do not accept God's love for us. That is the heart of the Christmas story. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16. Always improve the present moment.
