“the hope that is in you” ~1 Peter 3:15
Yesterday, Arnold Schwarzenegger told PEOPLE magazine that “When people talk about, ‘I will see them again in heaven,’ it sounds so good, but the reality is that we won’t see each other again after we’re gone. That’s the sad part.” He went on to call Heaven a fantasy. “I will miss everything,” he concluded. The sad part isn’t that Heaven isn’t real in his mind…the sad part is that he has no hope. If he has no hope, then what is he living for? It’s a painful proposition, one Jesus himself brought up: “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?” (Mark 8:36). Have you ever asked yourself that question? You should because Jesus is asking everyone that question until He returns. You shouldn’t wait until He returns to find the answer. What kind of a life is a life without hope? According to Schwarzenegger, a sad one. Peter encourages us to “always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” (3:15). So many people are living without the hope of eternal life in Christ. Let me encourage you to share your hope with everyone you meet, sometimes through words, always in your actions. Always improve the present moment.
