“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God” ~2 Corinthians 3:5
When was the last time you took credit for an accomplishment, whether it be great or small? A few days ago, my wife was listening to a medley of Disney songs, and I could call out the movies they were from as soon as I heard them. She was impressed I knew which movies they were from without looking them up or even thinking about it. I gladly took the compliment. But did I follow that up with thanking God for blessing me with a quick memory capable of returning to my childhood references? Now that I think about it, no, I didn't.
Are we thanking God for all He provides us or just some things? To maintain genuine gratitude in our lives, we mustn't forget that we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8). All we have and all we are is because we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I'm not just talking about the superficial but the very essence of our creation. So whether you are rich or poor, meek or mighty, never let yourself become lofty in your mind (Obadiah 1:4). Always give thanks, give credit to your Creator, and humble yourself before God.
Always improve the present moment.
