The Wicked Give Good Gifts

"For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” ~2 Corinthians 6:16

Many Christians make one big mistake. They think being a Christian simply means being a good person...not a perfect person, mind you, but a decent individual who gets along fairly well with his fellow man.

Well, I'm going to burst your bubble; I have to tell you that's wrong. Being a Christian is not just about being "nice." After all, those who are evil still give good gifts to their children (Luke 11:13). If you're just trying to be a "good person" then there may not be much to differentiate you from an evil person because an evil person, as Scripture tells us, has their moments of good.

As we see in Second Corinthians, being a Christian means the literal indwelling of the living God. That's right, the living God. Jesus prays for us "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me" (John 17:21).

This experience of God indwelling in us should be so powerful that it should bear witness to the divinity of Christ! But, it is a process. When we are entirely sanctified, or our hearts are made pure, we have newfound holy obedience to God, but our actions may not always align with our devotion. Forming a mature Christian character takes time. But the closer we grow in our relationship to Jesus, the more we come to understand what our actions mean to Jesus and those old habits of the past won't have the same appeal they used to (1 Cor. 13:11).

Think how special it is the Creator of the universe has chosen you to be His temple. Take exceptional care of your temple and others will take notice.

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies" (1 Cor. 16:19-20)

Always improve the present moment.
