“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field" ~ Matthew 13:44
What does this parable teach us about the value of the Kingdom of Heaven? It shows us that the Kingdom is worth more than anything else; it is a priceless gift God offers us through his grace and mercy.
But how do we find this treasure? Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7). We find the treasure by seeking God's will, trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and living in His love and sharing it with others.
And what do we do when we find this treasure? We hide it again, not because we are selfish or afraid, but because we are wise and faithful. We hide it in our hearts where no one can take it away. We hide it in our lives, where it can grow and bear fruit. We hide it in our actions, where it can shine and glorify God.
And out of joy, we sell all we have and buy that field. We joyfully surrender everything to God, knowing He is our true treasure. We joyfully renounce the things of this world, knowing that they cannot compare to the things of Heaven.
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure buried in a field. Have you found it? Have you hidden it? Have you sold everything for it? Have you bought the field? If not, what are you waiting for? Seek the treasure today and rejoice in its discovery!
Always improve the present moment.
